The Final Round

This past weekend was formal recruitment. Philanthropy round started on Thursday, with Sisterhood
on Friday, Preference on Saturday and Bid Day on Sunday. While going through all of these rounds all of the seniors didn’t realize this would be our last recruitment season, until Preference night.

Every night we would spend a few hours in the house preparing for the next round and getting ready for Bid Day. During these late nights in the house it was nice to catch up with sisters, especially since I live off campus and don’t see many of them unless I live with them or they’re in one of my classes.

As a senior it was a little emotional going through our last preference, especially the second round of the night. At the end of the night I knew we would be getting more sisters tomorrow, which made the next day very exciting.

Bid Day was a very exciting day because we were finally opening our doors to a new pledge class and new sisters. The day started out on Affinity lawn, where we first welcomed back our Rho Gammas and then welcomed our new members. After all of the hugging and crying was over, it was picture time. After a long day of taking pictures, eating great food and meeting our new sisters it was time to take a nap and get caught up on school work.

Even though this was the seniors last recruitment season, we will never forget the words of our symphony which mean so much to us.

These things do we earnestly desire:
A clear vision of life, that with gracious and kindly hearts we may share both joy and sorrow and bring into living reality the Sisterhood of women.
An appreciation of real merit and worth, steadfastness of soul, that without bitterness or defeat we may encounter misfortune and with humility meet success.
These things, O Lord, help us to instill within our hearts that we may grow in courage and graciousness and peace.
